xanax tomboys is the bedroom recording project of Logan Archer from Bakersfield, CA. His latest recording, “xt3” is a tasteful collection of ambient pop that’s distinctly “west-coast.” I hear flashes of Pedro the Lion, early Modest Mouse and Elliot Smith. The songs contained in this album all offer clever arrangements and interesting instrumentation. My ears are drawn especially to the creative drumming and guitar work. It was recorded to tape and computer, and the tones found within are lo-fi without being kitschy — all wrapped up in warm tape hiss.
